BARKLEY'S first night out of the shelter!
Brown and light brown
8 years old
BARKLEY is a sweet boy who was very fearful after he got out of the shelter and has been doing well at his foster home. Nothing makes him happier than rides in the car and going for walks on the leash. He interacts with other dogs on walks very well but always approaches other dogs with caution just in case. When he meets children on walks he also approaches with caution and then has been fine. Barkley will jump in your lap to watch TV and wants to be wherever you are. Once he gains your trust he's very affectionate and will roll over for belly rubs or heads scratches. BARKLEY is still a bit fearful and if he's bothered or scared will growl a warning. It's best to listen to him and give him time to get comfortable with the situation. He's fine with new people as long as he instigates the interaction. His fear has continually diminished while in his foster home and should continue in that direction with his family's patience and understanding. BARKLEY has come so far in only a month and needs an owner who will continue to patiently work with him. All he needs is a family who loves him, gives him affection and time.
